Not one, but TWO Scratchers® Win $750,000 Each in Santa Clara County!

SACRAMENTO – Look at that headline. Two different California Lottery players are celebrating huge wins on Scratchers purchased at different locations in Santa Clara County. If that’s not exciting enough, these two lucky winners were playing the same game! That’s right. Both winners claimed separate top prizes of $750,000, which is the most you can win playing the $10 Mystery Crossword.

For Glenn Silveira, some mornings start off with him playing a California Lottery Crossword Scratchers game while enjoying a cup of coffee. While Silveira enjoys this morning ritual, his wife jokes that she isn’t the biggest fan of this hobby because of the Scratchers shavings her husband leaves on the kitchen table. However, her tolerance level has likely changed now that her hubby scored the top prize on a Mystery Crossword Scratchers.

“Holy Moly!” was Glenn’s Silveira’s reaction to winning $750,000. Still not convinced he had won even after scratching the entire ticket, Silveira said he took out a piece of paper and wrote all his letters and words down just to make sure he wasn’t missing anything.

Silveira told us that he loves playing Mystery Crossword Scratchers because he can take his time playing them and gets his money’s worth. He’s also been on a pretty lucky roll, telling us he won $1,000 playing the California Lottery earlier this year. When asked what he planned on doing with his winnings, Silveira joked, “My wife’s wheels are already turning.” He also said that he will talk to his accountant and hopefully make his mortgage payment go away.

Silveira purchased his winning ticket at the 7-Eleven located at 1590 Franklin Street in Santa Clara (Santa Clara County).

Hold on, because we aren’t done yet. There’s more good news of a second Mystery Crossword Scratchers win at a separate California Lottery retail location, which is only eight miles away from where Silveira bought his winning ticket. This time out, it was Tony Mai who scored the top prize of $750,000. He purchased his lucky ticket at Lynda Sandwich/Blue Sky Corner Cafe, which is located at 999 Story road in San Jose.

Like all California Lottery Scratchers games, $10 Mystery Crossword comes with a second chance to win a great prize. The Lottery’s 2nd Chance Program offers players a chance to win weekly cash prizes of up to $25,000. Players enter their non-winning Scratchers tickets on our website and are automatically entered in the weekly pool drawing. A total of $100,000 will be given away every week.

It’s all part of the Lottery’s continued effort to give out more prizes, create more winners and earn more money for California public education.

The California Lottery is a $6 billion enterprise based in Sacramento. It is one of the few state agencies that is a revenue generator, not accepting taxpayer dollars from the State’s General Fund. Its mission is to provide supplemental funding to California schools while simultaneously supporting local communities. In FY 2016-17, the Lottery created 83 new millionaires. Ninety-five cents of every dollar spent by our players goes back to local communities in the form of contributions to public schools and colleges, prizes and retail compensation. The California Lottery urges its customers to play responsibly and within their budgets. If you feel you have a gambling problem, or know someone who does, you can get help at 1-800-GAMBLER.
