New California Lottery Player Wins $1 Million at Sacramento Café After Only Four Months of Trying!
SACRAMENTO – Thanh Cong Dang loves his coffee, but has never been much of a California Lottery player. Then he remembered his brother won $1,000 investing only $10 on a California Black Premium Scratchers® ticket. He decided to try his luck on the game while he was sipping coffee at Lang Café (6930 65th Street #101) in Sacramento.
Unfortunately, he didn’t win – but he wasn’t about to let that deter him from trying again. For the next four months, every once in a while, he’d buy the same Scratchers. And then it happened! Dang walked away with way more than the $1,000 his brother won on the California Black Premium game. Dang won the game’s top prize of $1 million!
“I was very happy!” Dang said in Vietnamese. “He had a big smile on his face. He was a little nervous too,” said Dang’s sister Wendy, who helped translate. What’s truly amazing about this story is it only took Dang four months of playing the California Lottery to become an instant millionaire.
Dang admitted he had to check his ticket “many times” to believe his eyes. During a lunch break from work, he scanned his ticket at a California Lottery Check-A-Ticket machine. He had the confirmation he was looking for. He walked back to his job at a restaurant a millionaire!
Lang Café is a winner as well! It received a $5,000 retailer bonus just for selling the winning ticket! (The retailer bonus is not subtracted from the winner’s jackpot prize.)
Dang says he plans on using some of his winnings to go on vacation to Vietnam and visit family members.
Thanh Cong Dang agreed to share limited details of his amazing story, but declined any potential requests for media interviews or to take a winner photo. No additional information about him can be released.
The winning doesn’t stop here! All California Lottery Scratchers come with a second chance to win another great prize of up to $25,000 during our weekly draw. Just subscribe to our 2nd Chance Program and submit any non-winning Scratchers ticket code for a chance to win.
This is all part of the Lottery’s continued effort to give out more prizes, create more winners and earn more money for California public education.
